Savuti is renowned as a premier game viewing destination, steeped in remarkable history. The Savuti Channel’s enigmatic fluctuations, independent of conventional rainfall patterns, have long intrigued geologists and researchers. From drying up in 1885 to resuming its flow in 1967 until 1982, then reactivating in late 2009, its transformation from marshland to a vibrant wetland has reshaped the area’s ecological dynamics. This resurgence has notably altered wildlife migration patterns, fostering an exciting environment ripe for exploration.Upon arrival, our camp staff will have everything prepared for your comfort, allowing ample time to relax and rejuvenate before a delightful dinner and an introduction to the game drives in Savuti. As night falls, rest under the canvas and prepare for the adventures of the following day.

The next day unfolds with an immersive all-day game drive through the Savuti Marsh and Channel, promising encounters with abundant elephant herds and diverse plains game. Savuti’s famed lion prides offer the potential for exhilarating sightings. Returning to camp in time for a refreshing shower, we gather for a convivial dinner, sharing tales of the day’s discoveries.

Commencing the day around 06:00 am, guests will indulge in a hearty breakfast before embarking on a captivating game drive en route from Savuti to Khwai. This scenic journey offers glimpses of wildlife amidst the stunning landscape, setting the stage for the adventures ahead.

Khwai, a community-run reserve, stands as a testament to responsible conservation efforts, boasting thriving resident wildlife and picturesque surroundings. Its community-centric approach ensures that wildlife preservation goes hand in hand with the well-being of local villages, fostering a harmonious coexistence. The reserve’s allowance for off-roading presents an exceptional opportunity for intimate wildlife encounters, promising sightings of giraffes, impalas, wildebeests, zebras, and elusive predators. After a brief respite at camp, guests will embark on an afternoon game drive, further immersing themselves in Khwai’s rich biodiversity.

Over the next two nights, our camp will serve as a base for exploration, offering moments of relaxation amidst the wilderness. The following day unfolds with full-day game drives along the Khwai River’s expansive floodplains, complete with packed lunches and snacks.
