ACTIVITIES: Bird watching, Mokoro/dugout Canoe experience & Bush walk

Your driver will pick you up from your lodge at around 07:00 AM.

After departure, you will drive for approximately 2 hours towards the Dhaunara Mokoro Station, located within the Okavango Delta.

The Okavango Delta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the few interior delta systems in the world that does not flow into the sea. It is a vast and lush wetland ecosystem that supports diverse wildlife and is crucial for the region’s ecology. Each year, approximately 11 cubic kilometers of water spreads across an area of 6,000 to 15,000 square kilometers. Upon arrival at Dhaunara, you will meet local polers who will take you on a traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) ride. This peaceful journey will allow you to experience the Delta from a unique perspective, gliding through its waterways and observing the wildlife, such as zebras, elephants, lechwees, hippos, and various bird species.

You will be taken to an island where you will enjoy a lunch break, soaking in the tranquil surroundings of the Delta. Afterward, a nature walk will give you the opportunity to learn more about the flora and fauna in the area, guided by your knowledgeable safari guide. After a fulfilling afternoon of exploration, you will return to the Mokoro station and meet your guide who will transfer you back to Maun.

This day will give you an incredible opportunity to experience the Okavango Delta from both water and land, all while being surrounded by some of the most stunning wildlife and landscapes in Africa. Enjoy every moment.
