Day 1: Maun

Upon your arrival at Maun International Airport, our dedicated guide will be there to greet you and provide a comprehensive safari briefing before transferring you to the lodge.

Maun, the fifth-largest town in Botswana, boasts a population of 55,784 as of 2011. Revered as the “tourism capital” of Botswana and the administrative center of the Ngamiland district, Maun serves as a gateway to the natural wonders of the Okavango Delta. Linked to Francistown by the A3 highway, Maun is home to numerous safari and air-charter operations facilitating trips into the Okavango Delta.Despite its official classification as a village, Maun has undergone rapid development from a rural frontier town, spreading along the Thamalakane River. Today, it features shopping centers, hotels, lodges, and car hire services, all while retaining a rustic charm and rural atmosphere. Local tribesmen continue to bring their cattle to Maun for trade, adding to the town’s authentic character.

The community is nestled along the wide banks of the Thamalakane River, where sightings of red lechwe grazing alongside local donkeys, goats, and cattle are commonplace. We will overnight here at the lodge, enjoying meals on a breakfast and dinner basis. Optional activities include a one-hour scenic flight over the Okavango Delta, providing a breathtaking aerial perspective of this natural wonder. Dinner at the lodge will be served around 20:00 hrs, offering a chance to unwind and reflect on the day’s adventures amidst the tranquil surroundings.

Day 2-4: Moremi Game Reserve

ACTIVITIES: Game drives & Bird watching

Moremi Game Reserve, situated in the central and eastern regions of the Okavango Delta, encompasses the Moremi Tongue and Chief’s Island, boasting one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems on the continent. This pristine wilderness offers unparalleled opportunities for spectacular game viewing and birdwatching, with sightings of all major herbivore and carnivore species indigenous to the region, as well as over 400 bird species, including migratory and endangered species. During our three-night camping expedition, guests will arrive to find their camp meticulously prepared by our dedicated staff. After a brief siesta and refreshing shower, evenings will be spent gathered around the crackling fire with our safari team, sharing stories and experiences before retiring for the night.The following day promises exhilarating full-day game drives, providing ample opportunities to encounter iconic species such as lions, leopards, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, and a plethora of birdlife. Upon returning to camp, guests will have time to rest and rejuvenate before coming together once more for dinner and engaging discussions with our professional safari guide around the fire.

Day 5-7: Khwai

ACTIVITIES: Game drives & Bird watching

Rise around 06:00 am to savor a hearty breakfast before embarking on a captivating game drive en route from Moremi to Khwai. This scenic journey promises glimpses of wildlife as we transition between these magnificent destinations, providing an early taste of the adventure to come.Khwai, a community-run reserve, is celebrated for its abundant resident wildlife and stunning landscapes. The ethos of community involvement ensures that wildlife conservation is intertwined with the well-being of local villages, fostering a symbiotic relationship between humans and nature.The reserve’s allowance for off-roading presents an unparalleled opportunity for intimate wildlife encounters, promising sightings of giraffes, impalas, wildebeests, zebras, wild dogs, and predators. After a brief siesta at camp, guests will embark on an afternoon game drive, further immersing themselves in Khwai’s rich biodiversity.

Over the next three nights, our camp will serve as a sanctuary amidst the wilderness, offering moments of relaxation amidst the beauty of nature. The following day unfolds with full-day game drives along the edge of the vast floodplains of the Khwai River, complete with packed lunches and snacks. With luck, guests may catch a glimpse of the endangered wild dog, a rare but treasured sight in the area.An opportunity to explore the village of Khwai awaits, providing insights into indigenous culture and craftsmanship before venturing out for afternoon game drives. Evenings are reserved for gathering around the campfire, sharing tales of the day’s adventures with our professional safari guide.Please note that night drives are available, and guests may opt to participate as desired.

Day 8-10: Savuti

ACTIVITIES: Game drives, bird watching & rock paintings

Awaken around 06:00 am to a light breakfast, preparing for a captivating journey as we depart from Khwai. This scenic drive takes us from one breathtaking destination to another, leading us to the renowned Savuti area, a prime game viewing destination steeped in remarkable history.

The Savuti Channel holds a fascinating legacy of flooding and drying up independently of conventional rainy seasons, captivating geologists and researchers for generations. From its drying in 1885 to its resumption of flow from 1967 to 1982, and its subsequent reactivation in late 2009, the channel’s resurgence has transformed the landscape, gradually replenishing the marsh and creating a flourishing wetland ecosystem. This transformation has also altered the migration patterns of animals, enticing them to remain within the area during the dry season, promising thrilling developments to witness.En route, a packed lunch will be served, ensuring sustenance for our journey. Upon arrival, our camp will be set up by our diligent staff, allowing ample time to relax and refresh before dinner and an introduction to the game drive in Savuti. As night falls, guests will retire to their canvas accommodations, enveloped by the tranquil ambiance of the wilderness.The following day unfolds with an all-day game drive through the Savuti Marsh and Channel, offering sightings of abundant elephant herds and plains game. With luck, guests may encounter the famed lion prides for which Savuti is renowned. Returning to camp in time for a quick shower, the evening concludes with a convivial dinner, providing an opportunity to reflect on the day’s adventures amidst the serene surroundings.

Day 11: Chobe/Kasane

MEALS: Breakfast & Dinner
ACTIVITY: 3 hour Sunset Boat cruise

After a satisfying breakfast, we embark on a game drive as we exit the park, commencing our journey northwards towards Kasane. This scenic drive will span approximately 5 and a half hours, guiding us to the town of Kasane, strategically positioned near Africa’s ‘Four Corners’, where the borders of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe converge.

Nestled on the southern bank of the expansive Chobe River, which forms the border with Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, Kasane serves as the administrative center of the Chobe District. Opposite the town, on the north bank of the river, lies the Namibian Island of Impalila, accessible via a passenger ferry crossing. Additionally, the village of Kazungula, located about 8 kilometers to the east of Kasane, marks Botswana’s presence on the Zambezi riverfront, immediately below its confluence with the Chobe River.

Upon arrival in Kasane, we will check into a lodge where we will enjoy a one-night stay inclusive of breakfast and dinner. After settling in, we’ll embark on an afternoon boat cruise along the mighty Chobe River. Renowned for its stunning scenery and magnificent sunsets, the Chobe River is home to one of Africa’s largest elephant populations, providing an opportunity to witness herds of elephants quenching their thirst along the riverbanks.

Following the boat cruise, we’ll return to the lodge for a delectable dinner, indulging in the flavors of the region amidst the comforts of our accommodations.

Day 12-13: Victoria Falls-Zimbabwe

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we set off for Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, accompanied by our knowledgeable guide who will assist with border crossings.

Upon reaching the border, passports will be stamped out, and guests will need to purchase a single-entry visa per person for 30 days, costing approximately $30. Additionally, multiple-entry visas into Zambia and Zimbabwe are available for around $50, subject to change.

From the border, we embark on a scenic drive lasting about an hour until we arrive at our lodge, where we will spend two nights on a breakfast and dinner basis.Victoria Falls presents a breathtaking spectacle of natural beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, serving as a natural border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Revered by the Kololo tribe as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’ for its immense spray and thunderous roar, Victoria Falls is renowned as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world when its width and height are combined. Named by the Scottish missionary and explorer David Livingstone after Queen Victoria, it was discovered by Livingstone during his historic expedition across Africa in 1855.

Victoria Falls is a haven for adventure seekers, offering an array of exhilarating activities. Dive into the mighty Zambezi River with an adrenaline-pumping white water rafting excursion, or experience the ultimate thrill of bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge. Other exciting adventure activities include high wire activities, swings, zip lines, and micro lighting adventures over Vic Falls. For water sports enthusiasts, kayaking or canoeing on the Zambezi River promises an unforgettable experience.

DAY 14: Transfer to Victoria Falls International Airport

Following breakfast, arrangements will be made for your smooth transfer to Victoria Falls International Airport in preparation for your onward flight to Johannesburg. This seamless transition ensures convenience and efficiency as you continue your journey.
